Big Sky Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Martinborough | $26

“Old vines.  Gnarly and knotted trunks, fatter than my arm.  Deep deep roots.  We prune hard, crop low, and don’t irrigate.  We barrel ferment, with judicious batonnage.  The result is a richly textured Sauvignon, smacking of lemongrass and lime zest, honeyed stonefruit, flinty minerality and lively acidity.”

Big Sky

Martinborough

We are a small, family-owned vineyard, making limited production hand-crafted Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Grüner Veltliner and Rosé from our low-cropping single block vineyard in Te Muna, Martinborough. For us, fine wine is all about place. And people. That’s what gives wines personality and soul.

Our philosophy is simple. Make the best wines we can, not the most wine we can. That means being hands on, and only as big as we can be with us involved at every step.

Our goal is wines that are a true expression of place. We do that best by being very attentive in the vineyard, and a light touch in the winery.

And since terroir is at the heart of our wines, we look after the environment. We live there. With our family. Why would we want to mess it up? So at Big Sky we practice certified sustainable viticulture, and are committed to using organic principles when we can.
